找 (zhǎo) carries the meaning “to look for, search, find”, but it is also a word that can be used independently.
Here are some example sentences of this word in action:
Usage 1 – “to look for, search, find“:
nǐ yào zhǎo gōngzuò ma
Do you want to look for work?
wǒ shàng ge yuè zài zhǎo gōngzuò
I was looking for work last month.
Usage 2 – “want to see; call on”:
nǐde māma zài zháo nǐ
Your mom is looking for you.
nàge nǚde wèishénme zháo nǐ
Why is that woman calling on you?
女的- nǚde- a woman
