2. The Mild Annoyance Of My Grandpa

RYAN SMITH

Location:

My sister’s living room (her toddler is very prone to sh*ou*ting).

Character: My grandfather (K connection via his name)

Props:

Horse head mask, cigar, & a stick

I’m sitting on the couch, so the door to the back porch is on my right. My grandpa is in the center of the room doing a kind of lumberjack log roll type thing on a gigantic cigar. Suddenly, the cigar jerks to a stop & he’s thrown off, the cigar has gotten stuck on a stick jutting out of the floor. A fellow in a horse head mask stands in the door of the backyard pointing and laughing at my grandpa’s stumble, which annoys my grandfather to the point of shoving the stick up into the mouth of the horse mask.

This is really quite a shocking action for my grandpa since I never once saw him express a negative emotion greater than a mild annoyance.

ABIGAIL

My script – In the kitchen, there is a lightsaber [imagine the sound effects!] positioned vertically in the ground in front of two stone slabs with the ten commandments. My friend called Shubash comes and counteracts ‘the dark side’ with a sonic screwdriver [cue sound effects!] After the ordeal, we’re both bent double with laughter! :’)

DIMITRIS PITIANOUDIS

Hi, are we supposed to write the words above or we’re going to do it later? I find it helpful to write them down.

Thank you

MARK BALDWIN

It’s gonna be hard for me to find 13 sets and 55 actors! I’m already having to resort to God 😀

13:29

ERIC ENGLE

This is probably stupid of me to say but: what if your home/childhood was a nightmare/traumatic/war zone/abusive? I really don’t feel like revisiting aspects of my personal past.

15:25

JULIAN LAFFEY

I see a pair of legs with bare buttocks at the top. Someone mooning everybody.

JULIAN LAFFEY

I used AIRPORT for this one.

JULIAN LAFFEY

Melbourne International in Australia, which I seem to visit a lot.

First tone is out the front where people are dropped off and picked up, second tone is one of the food courts (close enough to a kitchen!), third tone can be anywhere else really (duty free? customs?), fourth tone is ‘out the back’ on/near the tarmac.

NASEEM SHAWARBA

Hello, sorry for my English. Could you see if I did my movie right or wrong and could you give it a note from 1-10?

Wu : woody ( the woodpecker )

3rd tone : my room

My house is in the desert of Negev

Time: childhood

Props: woody and a giant wooden cross

The weather was very hot and dry the sun was vertical. I want to take from my room window a picture of my backyard. In my sandy back yard, there was a giant cross, you can’t see its shadow because it was noontime. I also saw Woody the Woodpecker, he was flying fast around the house. When i took the picture it looks like 午. Woody was faster than my camera shutter.

SIDNEY GREEN

For a Welshman like me, the female name Sian is good. It is pronounced S(h)ian

NASEEM SHAWARBA

Can I say “uhhhhh?” instead of “brains”? Like somebody is asking me but I don’t know the answer?

ADAM CARDILINI

My Chinese lecturer (native speaker) actually showed our class this video as a good example of how to pronounce the 3rd tone in ‘the wild’. It’s a really good thing to know and something we hadn’t been taught before because, as my teacher said, it just comes naturally (learned young) for native Chinese speakers. Thanks for this good explanation; whenever I am practicing the third tone I think of ‘brainssss’.

I have chosen the face at the entrance to Lunar Park Melbourne for a big mouth.

I have chosen the Starship Enterprise as my setting for -en!
